Pastors
Rev. Barry and Christina Claborn
The Sanctuary of Carson Valley was founded in August 2023 by Rev. Barry and Christina Claborn. Prior to their current pastorate, they served from 2018 - 2023 as the founding pastors of a growing church in California's San Jacinto Valley.
He also served as pastor of Calvary Life Center in California's North Bay area and as pastor of The Bayside Church in California's East Bay Area. He attended Heald Business College in 1984 and graduated from Christian Life College in 1989 with a B.A. in Biblical Studies. He enjoys reading, writing, and racquetball. Christina's professional career includes administrating the Medical Staff offices at CVH (CVMC) and Loma Linda Medical Center - Murrieta. She's currently a Project Manager for a healthcare software development firm. Together, they have five children: Lucas (Nicole), Brennan (Brier), Jaycie, Sage, & Drake, and grandson, Levi (Lucas and Nicole).

Spanish Ministries
Michael and Liliana Casillas
Mike and Lily Casillas serve as leaders of the Spanish-Speaking Ministries of The Sanctuary. They are dedicated Christians with a servants heart, committed to the vision of reaching every language and culture in Northern Nevada, beginning with the Latino population in the Carson Valley. Their life stories are an inspiration to many, as they have overcome significant obstacles to become the burdened and effective ministry leaders that they are.
When Mike is not busy ministering (and BBQing :), he is a licensed contractor and owner of a busy construction firm, serving the Northern Nevada and Lake Tahoe regions. When Lily is not busy blessing others with food, love, and laughter, she serves as a Dental Assistant and business owner of her own cleaning firm.
Their son. Joseph, is an avid drummer and student of architecture. Their daughter, Jazlyn, is a talented member of The Sanctuary Worship Team.

LIFT Ladies Ministries
Christina Claborn
In addition to being our Pastor's wife, Christina serves as the leader of our LIFT Ladies Ministries at The Sanctuary. Her genuine love for people is readily apparent in her smiling face, in her warm hugs, and in her willingness to share the burdens of others. The spiritual health and fellowship of our ladies is her prayerful passion.
When Christina is not busy with her church roles, she can be found managing projects for a multinational health informatics firm, as well as serving on the Board of Directors for Main Street Gardnerville, which preserves and promotes the best of our communities. Her love for people is rivaled only by her love for coffee and conversation :)
Together with her husband, they have five children: Lucas (Nicole), Brennan (Brier), Jaycie, Sage, & Drake, and grandson, Levi (Lucas and Nicole).

Developing Ministries
CHILDREN'S MINISTRY | Ages 5-11
KidCITY
Children have always mattered to the KidCITY Ministry team, but never more so than in the 21st century. This generation of children has seen more, heard more, and experienced more than any of the previous generations combined. This is our challenge: Teaching children how to experience the love of God in a safe and Godly environment. Each week, we'll do exactly that. And, when we see them laugh, sing, worship, and pray, we'll know we've helped make a difference in their little world, even as they make a difference in ours.

YOUTH MINISTRY | Ages 12-18
180° Youth
At The Sanctuary, we believe students don't have to wait on the future to make a difference. God can use them, now. They can represent, now. They can sing, they can play, they can worship and serve others even while growing and maturing into adulthood. As we grow, students will meet for group studies, anointed services, home fellowship events, road trips, music rehearsals, and bible quizzing. Mix in great music, good food (can you say, "pizza") wacky games, and a little spontaneity, and you'll find yourself wanting to jump in!

LADIES MINISTRY
LIFT
Ladies In Fellowship Together is a ministry to women of all ages and walks of life. It's purpose is to encourage, strengthen, and equip our women to become true examples of biblical womanhood in a society reeling from theoretical failure. At The Sanctuary, we believe influence with God equals influence with others, and that Godly women can change their world! Our ladies pray together, worship together, laugh together, play together, eat together, shop together...you get the picture. At The Sanctuary, ladies go first!

MEN'S MINISTRY
IRONMEN

If a knife is blunt, it still continues to be a knife, although it is less useful and effective. But, rub an iron edge against the knife and soon the knife will be at it's best and brightest. At The Sanctuary, we believe men are at their best when they're consistently in the presence of other men who are pursuing the same goal. At Prayer Breakfasts, Ironman Expeditions, or Men's Retreats, we envision men accepting the challenge of "living on the edge", becoming better husbands, fathers, brothers, and sons.
