About The Sanctuary

The Sanctuary of Carson Valley | 1361 Centerville Lane, Gardnerville, NV

Our Story
The Sanctuary is a new church fellowship founded in August 2023 in Nevada's beautiful Carson Valley. The prologue to The Sanctuary Story began while our pastors were still leading the church they planted in California's San Jacinto Valley in April 2018. As they approached the five-year mark of that pastorate, they recognized a beckoning to yet another valley in another place —Nevada's Carson Valley— which had been home to our pastor's wife for many years. The church they founded in Southern California continues to grow and thrive, proof-positive that biblically-centered, spirit-filled churches can grow and prosper wherever they're planted.
The first chapter of The Sanctuary of Carson Valley began when we launched on September 24th, 2023 at the Douglas County Community Center. We've since moved to new facilities located at 1361 Centerville Lane in Gardnerville, NV. Each week since, we've experienced a special visitation of God's presence! If your world is reeling and you need a sanctuary, we invite you to experience a place for His presence. New faces. New beginnings. New lives. That's what we're all about! We'd love for you to join us!

The Sanctuary includes a dedicated team of volunteers!

Matthew 22:39 - “Love others as much as you love yourself.” (CEV)

Our Core Beliefs
Bible
We believe the Bible to be the complete Word of God;
That the 66 books of the Old and New Testament were inspired by the Spirit of God as originally written.
That the Bible is the infallible Word of God and the authority for salvation and Christian living. (See II Timothy 3:15-17.)

God
There is one God, who has revealed Himself as our Father, in His Son Jesus Christ, and as the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is God manifested in flesh. He is both God and man. (See Deuteronomy 6:4; Ephesians 4:4-6; Colossians 2:9; I Timothy 3:16.)

Sin And Salvation
Everyone has sinned and needs salvation. Salvation comes by grace through obedient faith based on the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ. (See Romans 3:23-25; 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9.)

The Gospel (Good News)
The saving gospel is the good news that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose again. We obey the gospel (II Thessalonians 1:8; I Peter 4:17) by repentance (death to sin), water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ (burial), and receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit (resurrection) evidenced by speaking in tongues (a language never learned) as the Spirit gives the utterance . (See I Corinthians 15:1-4; Acts 2:4, 37-39; Acts 10:44-46; Romans 6:3-4.)

Christian Living
As Christians we are to love God and others. We should live a holy life inwardly and outwardly, and worship God joyfully. The supernatural gifts of the Spirit, including healing, are for the church today. (See Mark 12:28-31; II Corinthians 7:1; Hebrews 12:14; I Corinthians 12:8-10.)

The Future
Jesus Christ is coming again to catch away His church. In the end will be the final resurrection and the final judgment. The righteous will inherit eternal life, and the unrighteous eternal death. (See I Thessalonians 4:16-17; Revelation 20:11-15.)

The Way We Worship

-
We pray together aloud because in the Bible we read, "They lifted up their voice to God with one accord." (Acts 4:24)
-
We lift our hands in praise because in the Bible we read, "Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the Lord." (Psalm 134:2)
-
We sing with all our hearts because in the Bible we read, "Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise." (Psalm 98:4)
-
We play musical instruments because in the Bible we read, "And all the house of Israel played before the LORD on all manner of instruments." (2 Samuel 6:5)
-
We clap and shout unto God because in the Bible we read, "O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph." (Psalm 47:1)
-
We dance before the LORD because in the Bible we read, "Praise Him with the timbrel and dance: praise Him with stringed instruments and organs." (Psalm 150:4)
-
We testify publicly because in the Bible we read, "I will declare thy name unto my brethren; in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee." (Psalm 22:22)
-
We anoint with oil for divine healing because in the Bible we read, "Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord." (James 5:14)
-
We allow the operation of the spiritual gifts because in the Bible we read, "When ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation." (1 Corinthians 14:26)
